Wow!! Which side? You can't find that anymore.

Naturally, we're on the YU side. When we moved in 2014, we probably picked up one of the last remaining great deals in the neighborhood. Things were nice when we first moved here and found a nice 1-BR at $990...sigh....

1,000 for a 3/1 basement in lkwd, not including any utilities but with nice sized driveway and play area.
Comforting to know I'm not the only one feeling stuck! Srsly need to move but even with steady income advances don't see how we'll suddenly be able to double our rent in one month!

Wow! I remember the days when Lakewood basement apartments with the 3 beds and a bath were just 850 including all utilities. We rented a house a few years back 2 beds and one bath on a regular block in New England village and paid 1000 plus utilities.

Our mortgage in Baltimore on a 285,000 dollar house is about 1505. That was with the 20% down. A family member of mine lives in a tiny two bedroom apartment here as well and is paying a bit over 1300. Worth it to buy if you can in Baltimore.

This post is completely for my own curiosity. Where are you located? How much do you pay in rent? How much is your mortgage? How much did you pay for your house. What kind of house /apartment do you live in?

I am living in a two bedroom 1000 sqft apt in Flatbush paying 1675 a month.

Hi! B"H we live in the growing Torah community of South Bend, Indiana. Our home is about 2500 sq ft with 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms on a quite cul-de-sac and we bought our home for around $125,000 dollars and we have a 15 year mortgage and the monthly payment with taxes and insurance is about $830 a month (we chose to spend more now with a 15 year so we wouldn't be in debt forever Smile. We did put down at least 20% when we purchased, so that really helped with the price per month, and have a great interest rate around 3.5% and B"H good credit. So if you are interested in living in a growing Torah community that you can afford to buy a house feel free to PM to learn more! Also Indiana has State Tuition vouchers and tuition can be FREE that way. Also feel free to check out www.cdisouthbend.com to learn more!

In Seattle I was paying $1400 a month for a tiny 2 bedroom, 1 bath bungalow house. The house had mold, dry rot, carpenter ants, wolf spiders, and a huge rat colony in the crawl space and attic. Confused

In Israel I'm paying the US equivalent $1100 a month for a 4 bedroom, 3 bath apartment with a HUGE merpesset and a storage unit downstairs. The building is only 12 years old, and it's spotless. Very Happy

I live in beautiful San Diego. I bought several yrs ago when the housing market crashed and was able to get my house for under $400k, with 20% down. Have also refinanced 2-3 times now, so have a very low interest rate. Current mortgage a little over $1700/month - 30 yr loan. However, my house is very small.

Now family homes in our area are going for at least $550k - $700k and more range!! And this is for homes built in the 1940s- 1960s. And I live in the "cheaper" jewish community. Other parts of San Diego homes are $800k to easily over $1M. It's crazy.

And renting homes in San Diego is terrible now. Rents have increased drastically lately, esp the last year or two. A single studio goes for $1200/mo now I think.

Metro DC area. 4 bedroom house. $2900 per month includes mortgage, property taxes, home insurance. (No mortgage insurance; we put 20% down to avoid that.) Does not include utilities.

Still a lot less than the tuition bill!

1000 rent for a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apt chicago. We have an enclosed porch (aside from the two bedrooms, so it can function as extra storage or another bedroom/office if we'd need) and our own parking space. Really perfect size for the 2 adults 1 kid That we are! And could easily fit another kid as well, if we are still living in the apt when the next one comes along Smile
