My teenage dd was just diagnosed with TMJ and was told to go on a soft food diet for two weeks. There are a few other issues, she has celiac disease, is often constipated, and is prone to acid reflux. She is also an extremely picky eater and needs variety. It's also two weeks before Pesach.
So far we came up with
Yogurt
Cottage Cheese
Avocado
Smoothies
Mashed potatoes
Soups
She won't eat scrambled eggs or chopped meat.
Please help me!

She tried GF pasta today, she felt like she had to chew it too much. Rice cakes wouldn't either work, too chewy. I wonder if she would like the Gefen soup, I'm going to buy it for her to try, thanks for the idea.

Crustless quiche?
Crustless cheesecake?
Mashed sweet potatoes?
Pureed vegetable soup?
Why won't she eat scrambled eggs or chopped meat? Too hard to chew or sensory issues?

Buy protein powder and make her fruit smoothies with yogurt to supplement her. On pesach just omit the powder. Try and sneak in some kale or spinach depending on her stomach.

Chocolate chia pudding! Chia seeds are a good source of omega 3's and fiber which may help her stay regular. I make it with almond, soy or real milk. Add maple syrup and cocoa powder. A dash of vanilla and/or cinnamon optional. Chill in fridge for a few hours.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Problem is, I'm so not a healthy eater/cook. I wouldn't even know where to find things like chia seeds, protein powder etc. I guess I have to go into my local health food store and ask for help.
Joyinthemorning, she doesn't like any egg or chopped meat dishes, she's a very picky eater.

perhaps a visit to a chiropractor could help fix the issue!

Short version, it's when you have issues with your jawbone, which causes pain, you may hear clicking when chewing, may have problems opening your mouth wide, may cause headaches. Her pediatrician told us to check for TMJ because of her headaches, that's when she said she has clicking when she chews. Dentist is the one who diagnoses, and treats it. He told us to start with the soft food diet, and she will probably need a night guard, because he thinks she clenches her teach when she's sleeping.

How long will she eat soft food for? How can she train her jaw to chew otherwise? What is there to do aside from the night guard?
Thanks so much - I'm on the phone with the dentist now
