I used to have one for a short time ~ but then I deleted myself
not sure which place is worse - here where you don't know who is insulting you ... or there where there is a face to match up with ... not to mention the crazies who stalk you [then again they do that here as well]

I use it. It is a great way to keep up with friends and family. I avoid the snarky post and comment streams.
I also don't let it eat into family time and usually just check in during downtime when I'm alone. DH and I really try not to use our smartphones at home except for phone calls.

so I have an account but I hardly sign on... fb came out big right around my senior year of high school. and everyone was getting, I def didn't want to be left out of anything. plus then it was easier to stay in touch during sem and college... however, after I got divorced, I didn't go on as much , bc it was painful to read abt my friends getting married and having kids, , but I never deleted my account.. now I basically use it as alternate to email for certain friends, [especially bc email address change, in my high school I had a yahoo, now I have a gmail]
also, I met my ex on fb, in fact I'd met one of my mom's co-workers, who had a cousin, but I was younger and nervous, and said let him friend me on fb, and we talked on fb a month before we actually went out,... which I guess is another reason I'm not gonna delete the fb [besides using it as email replacement] I never know if I might meet someone or maybe a friend will notice my profile and think of someone for me
