Is it ok for my 12 month old to eat fish? or is there a problem with the mercury?

Google "fish mercury". There are lists online about what fishes are safe, and what are not recommended. Tuna is the number one problem, and it's been shown that the levels are bad enough to impact the ability to learn. I limit tuna to one can per month, even for adults.
While we're on the subject of safe foods, Google "dirty dozen", and you'll see which fruits and vegetables have the highest amounts of pesticides sprayed on them, and you'll know which ones need to be soaked twice, or peeled first.
