Oh joy, the gas is off in my building and they say it may be WEEKS until it is repaired. I have been making good use of my crockpot and microwave these last few days (did you know you can make a quite decent omelet in your microwave?). But now that I know it will be a while I think I need at least one burner too. Does anyone have product recommendations for a one burner hot plate ? This is absolutely NOT for use on shabbos. What I want is on of those thingies that looks like one burner of a stove and plugs in. In addition to brand recommendations, any other hints would be appreciated.

I used to have one that looked like an electrical coil - it was impossible to clean! The flat-surface kind that looks like a disk is probably better.
