I'm a SAHM with little kids and I don't know what to wear at home or out and about for short errands or the park. I need to wear something tznius, very washable, and I would like to feel like I look nice. I also need to be able to nurse in it and it's Florida and my a/c unit is old so I need to be cool. Any ideas?

I love the pea bee and jae modal shells- they are super comfortable with a good neck. If you get a big enough size they also aren't skin tight.

Ha, exactly my problem! I live in Texas. Are bare legs an issue for you?

loose linen or cotton skirts. Linen button down shirts, loose.

I look in thrift shops for these. I wash cold in the washer & hang dry & don't iron.

If you have to look more put together, you can wear the shirt over a sleeveless shell with a clunky necklace, and iron the shirt, if you feel you must.

Alternately, you could wear the sleeveless shell in the house, with the shades down, keep the shirt near the front door if someone comes by, or you have to go out quickly, just throw it on.

here are some skirts & shirts for example:

OK, I am editing (since I used my screen name I can do that Wink ) to add, really, if you are into a different look, you can do this in linens & cottons with knee length skirts & more fitted shirts.

You may sacrifice some of the cooling properties of the linen if you go for the more fitted look.

The advantage of linen is that it is cooling and wicks moisture away from you. In light colors, deflects the heat & longer & looser lets your body heat escape. I have spent some time in Miami, both in summer and in winter & with nursing children & find I am most comfortable & able to dress tsniusly and stylishly in loose linen wear.

Where?
Having a hard time finding something that works for me.
Not looking to spend a fortune.

When I'm at home I do as mentioned above - wear a cotton shell in the house and throw on a shirt before opening the door. But that is a very limited strategy - we spend much more time outdoors during the summer anyway.

What Kuggelgirl said. Loose, gauzy, flowy things.

- A lightweight, cotton, gauzy skirt with a simple cotton fitted tee.
- Seersucker is very lightweight. Something like this? http://global.llbean.com/shop/......html
- Try outdoor stores like Columbia Sportswear, etc for super-lightweight shirts and skirts that wear well and breathe.
- Do you feel comfortable wearing moisture-wicking sport shirts? They are super-comfortable in hot weather, although mostly short sleeved. What sleeve length is acceptable to you?

I have this problem... in summer I want to lock myself in my room (we splurged on a/c) or just not dress but that's not possible. I wet my clothes and my hair, but still my skin is tingly and head aches etc from the heat after a moment. My kids stay near fans but it's not enough for me when it's really bad like 30 and above.

I just went to marshalls and got a few printed jersey maxi skirts, paired with a j crew "tissue t" is my summer uniform. The j crew t's were just on clearance so not sure they will have many in stock. They are very thin cotton, but long sleeves and opaque.
Anon cuz this is what I tell everyone to buy 😀

My problem is legs... I find pantyhose really uncomfortable physically and style-wise also, incompatible with the casual/comfortable style I usually prefer.

I end up wearing a lot of long skirts because then I'm okay with just wearing socks or maybe even bare legs. But when it's muddy or rains...

Thank you!

I like the dress but don't think I can nurse in that. I found some long loose cotton tees from woman within. I need sleeves below the elbow at home and a skirt midcalf or longer. It's too hot for stockings and shorter than midcalf I need stockings. Does anyone have any ideas for cheap (under $15) cotton maxi skirts?

Thank you again!!
