Any cons to having adenoids removed? I know it's sometimes necessary, but it feels discomfiting to be removing an organ. Besides, aren't adenoids part of the immune system?

Two of my children has them removed.
They now sleep better, breathe more easily and have less stomachaches.
We had tried shrinking them with steroids but were unsuccessful so I had no choice but to remove them.
They weren't actually completely removed, but rather shaved off. That's standard procedure these days.
The root is still left (but that comes along with the small risk of them growing back- which is actually what happened with one of my kids. )

Hmm, I didn't know they could shave it. I'll definitely ask the doctor about that.
I'm actually intrigued that you mention stomach aches, what's the connection?

Consider visiting an alternative/ holistic doctor for another opinion and other options. Yes, every organ has a function and doctors should not be so quick to just rip them out.
