Until now I had small apartment and everyone put dirty clothing in two family hampers_(white and dark) which we kept in bathroom closet and on Sunday I carried them down to basement to machines now I am moving to a big house w laundry room upstairs near all the bedrooms and I'm trying to figure out a good system do I keep all hampers in laundry room or rather in each kids room. Any advice?

I have one hamper in each kids' room, a triple laundry sorter in the master bedroom, a hamper in the bathroom. when my kids required multiple outfits per day, I kept a hamper on the main floor next to the changing table. now, I keep a laundry bag hanging on the banister going to the basement for any main floor laundry. having a hamper in each bedroom and the bathroom means the kids are more likely to put the laundry in the hamper.

I have hampers in each bedroom [for master two]. I also have one in the hallway outside the bathroom which is also in the middle of all the bedrooms. Recently I added a hamper to the living room because for some reason the kids seem to like getting into PJs there. Twice a week I take down all the hampers to the basement laundry room and do literally about five loads start to finish. For the way up, before folding, I put each kid's stuff in a different hamper and into their rooms, so that it is already in the right place, even if I don't get to the folding right away.
