How many hours a day do you work and how much do you get paid in a year as a teacher? How about as an assistant teacher? Do you work full time or part time?

Teacher-
Last year got 25
This year low 30's
Part time - English subjects 12:30-4:30
This is with 5 years of teaching experience in elementary school.
High schools, especially regents subjects, tend to be better paying positions.

This would be more relevant with more information - do you have a degree in elem/high school ed and teaching certification? What kind of school are you at, and what area?

I hope you dont mind my asking but where do you live? are you in NYC? because I never heard of such a high salary for a teacher...

dh is paid way way less than that to be a full time teacher, both kodesh and general studies with almost 20 years experience and a masters in education.... obviously not in a public school, but I have always wondered how diffeent the salary is between public school and MO school where dh teaches...

$80k is a reasonable salary in my town of 55k people.I'm on the left coast though and it's reasonable to add in a benefit package, ins, sick, pension, continuing education, holidays with a value of about $25k in my town.

NYC I looked it up on the salary guide for NYC teachers. In another 3 years amother will be making over 100K.

Hard work pays good money, I can say that about the teachers in my dist. Student test scores are good, graduation rates above average. My kids all went to public schools and are not sitting home on friday nights watching [filth] and eating cheese burgers. They all got great educations and their teachers instilled a love of learning and a desire to learn in them. It is worth every penny I pay in taxes.

L5 is for 5 years longevity.

For someone else who asked, I'm in NYC. It's a pretty standard salary, plus I get pension, medical, dental, and vision on top of this. But again, I have a bachelors and two masters and there's tons of accountability with this job. Teaching in a NYC public school under the current evaluation system requires a lot of hard work every single day.
