Does anyone have experience with this? The cyst was seen in utero and now has been confirmed on my newborn dd Sad

Do you know of any newborns with this? Was surgery required or did it go away on its own?

Thanks

So far we've had an mri ultrasound and X-ray right after she was born. The results were inconclusive and I wasn't comfortable with the came I was getting with the doctors there. My pediatrician sent us to someone else for an ultrasound and we just got the official diagnosis like an hour ago. He's sending us to a surgeon to discuss treatment, but the options are surgery now, surgery at a later date, or monitor and see if it clears on its own.

I'm hoping there are others who can say they'd dealt with this and it went away without surgery!

I don't know anything about a hemorrahagic cyst, but maybe you should consult with a reproductive endocrinologist. They probably have the most experience with this type of thing. You can call atime or bonei olam for help in finding the right dr.

My daughter had a large fluid- filled ovarian cyst that was diagnosed in utero. It was closely monitored until her birth. I was assured by doctors that this was likely to resolve itself after birth. Within 1 day after her birth, the cyst was found to be torting & untorting-- which means it was twisting and then untwisting. After all the reassurances during my pregnancy, I was both startled and hesitant, but my pediatrician and the surgeon both very strongly recommended that this be done, and quickly. She was operated on at 2 days old, and they were able to save her ovary, BH. (Her other ovary was never in any danger, BH.) It is now many years later, and she BH has had no further complications or related issues.

Mazal tov on the birth of your dd. My dd was also born with a cyst in a reproductive area. Do you live in New York? The field of pediatric gynecology is tiny. The doctor we used was Dr. Heather Appelbaum (she is frum). She works in Long Island and Brooklyn. I believe there is one other doctor in this field in Colombia Presbyterian but I don't know the name of the doctor.

Wow that must have been so stressful! BH ur dd had no complications in the end. To my knowledge my dd cyst is not endangering her ovary function at this time, but Wer going to a specialist tomorrow and I will ask him specifically!

Thanks for the info but we are in Miami...the docs we are seeing are pediatric surgeons and radiologists, but not specifically pediatric gynecologists...
