anyone know what this could be??? My dd has been waking up with stomach cramps and has diarrhea a few times in the morning before she even eats. As the day goes on her stomach doesn't bother her at all - even after meals. It is just a morning thing. It's been going on for a few weeks. I will start her on probiotics but wondering if this could be something serious. Will get her to the dr. soon.

Please check it out asap.
My husband and 2 of my kids have serious GI issues (all completely unrelated) and I would find this extremely concerning if it was going on for more than 2 days.

Does she go to sleep right after eating supper?
Do you have a very fatty supper?
Sometimes something some one eats late evening can affect their next morning

no - she eats supper quite early and I don't usually serve oily/fatty foods.

Please take your child to a Dr. She deserves medical care.

How old is she?
It could be anxiety. Is there something about her day that makes her nervous?
Definitely get her to be checked out medically, but also have a talk with her about what's going in in her life.

she's 6 - I also wondered if it can be stress related at first and attributed it to that but she is not stressed about anything at all and is very happy these days so I have ruled that out.
Of course I will take her to the dr.

I have this - it's lactose intolerance. Doesn't have to be right after dairy. If I eat dairy one day, the next morning I get like that.

Did your child have a vaccine prior to this?
It may be celiac disease or a dairy allergy. Probably inflamed gut either way and probiotic is a good start

It probably sounds funny but DS had regular diarrhea and an alternative practitioner told me that the water he was drinking wasn't good for him. We changed to bottled water and the diarrhea went.

There are many, many possibilities. Go to a doctor and you'll feel relieved. (So will she. She knows this isn't normal and will feel you're taking care of her, even if you don't get an answer right away.)

no vaccine prior to this episode..
about the water -- we only drink bottled water. Funny thing is, this morning before she came down to the kitchen I realized we were out of water so I filled an empty water bottle with sink water. I poured some for her - she watched me pour for her from the bottle and she made a face and said "uch, is this sink water?" - So no sink water here.

IBS-diarrhea is stress related. I have this and it can definitely be timed according to stressful events coming up in the day. I used to have to run to the bathroom when I looked at the clock and it was almost the time when the bus dropped off my daughter. Idk why I was so stressed about hearing the bus or what it was that it made me run to the bathroom every day as the time approached. Anyways, I'm only sharing this tmi bit to suggest if there's something during the morning routine that could be stressing her- even tho it's not legit soooo stressful but something like making the bus on time could be causing it.
