Taking issue with the wording of your question

I didn't MAKE any cash from my wedding.

I received gifts, some of them money.

If you're being thorough you should probably also ask people to say how many people were at their wedding. A person who had a small wedding will likely receive less gifts than someone who had a large wedding

40K. Married 8 years. Dh and I both come from wealthy MO families and had a large wedding. We used some of the money to purchase a few things we didn't get from our registry, and the rest we invested.

Umm...
None.
All of it went to our parents to help pay the wedding expenses.

And my husband entered the marriage..in debt
Crying

I think it's irrelevant which community we belong to as this reflects more on our personal circumstances than anything else

For those who must know we are chasidish

I think around 20K, but my father was a well-respected Rabbi in the community, and my husband's family was also well known and well-respected. A lot of the money came from very generous family members and close friends. We used it to help pay for my schooling, and eventually to put down a small down payment on the house.

something under $5000, about 15 years ago. From a chabad family, not in the USA. We had a quite a large wedding but most families gave us either gifts or small checks. ($60 or so being typical)

Between 4-5000. Last year.

Both OOT. My family was a well-known, BT family in the community (We're Orthodox, we definitely had a huge spectrum at the wedding). DH came from Chabad fam.

DH and I come from MO/Yeshivish families from NY. We got married a year and a half ago and received 30K in cash. We had about 350 people at our wedding, 450 at chuppa but I think we had invited about 600 guests. We also got almost our whole registry fulfilled and additional gifts.

According to this poll it seems like it's basically "all or nothing."

More than the poll allows. But does it really matter? I feel like this topic will just breed jealousy.

Around 20k.
My family is very heimesh/chassidish, dh's family is heimesh on one side and very MO on the other.
All of it went to pay off dh's debt that he'd accrued before we got married Confused . What is it with these guys!

Really? I don't feel jealous at all for some reason and I didn't see a penny from my wedding.
I'm actually so impressed that a couple here started their life with 40k! And another with 30k and almost everything from their registry! That is amazing! People are so generous. What a wonderful way to start off. It's really heartening to hear that.

We got married 8yrs ago and received around 15, 000 in gifts. Most of the bigger checks came from non religious guests. Was appreciative of all the gifts.
