The OP seems to think that what she wants is "natural" but what she's describing is anything but that. She seems to think that anything other than the headband + bump look is "flat, messy, unprofessional, bed-head."

Maybe it is, but that's the look people want.

Also, flat, messy and unprofessional is like the definition of natural when it comes to hair.

Okay this thread is annoying. I (and many people I know) have a stunning skintop sheitels with lots of height, body and style!
Gross old-fashioned wigs are not stylish. They looked thatched!

Does anyone really wear a headband with a bump? Sounds like the 80s/90s to me.

If its annoying, stop checking it!

Remember, op is a different generation then you are. No need to refer to what she clearly likes as unstylish, thatched, and worst of all, gross.

I was actually thinking its coming back in - except without the headband. Big bump pinned back to keep it that way. See it a lot now with lace fronts or lace bands or without any lace or hair pulled out.

Ya except she makes it sound like the rest of us are the stupid and uneducated ones and only she understands the value in how the old wigs are constructed. She doesn't seem to understand that not everyone wants what she describes.

We still need a pic, OP. It can be a random one from the internet but I'm not sure any of us truly know what you're talking about. Maybe we can help you better if post one.

OP, I think you came on here hoping to galvanize all the people who are annoyed at the sheitel product we are being sold and somehow come up with a solution.

The thing is, none of us really get what you're saying, unless you can post a pic, somehow. And this should tell you that you won't be successful in galvanizing the angry masses since the masses aren't angry. We like the sheitels that are being produced nowadays. By raise of hands, is there anyone here other than OP that wants this type of sheitel?

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion and taste. The point is, you keep trying to convince everyone how your way (which we can't visualize) is vastly superior, and you may not be successful in that particular endeavor.

In any case, I wish you much hatzlacha in getting the sheitel you seek at the price you can afford.

If anyone has "height" and body on the top of their skin-top sheitel, it's because it's being styled in a fashion that the sheitel wasn't designed to do & your paying more for working against the sheitel's design.

These are what my mother wore when she got married. But can it be styled any other way or the way you get it is the way it stays? Like I wrote previously, I want to be able to style my wigs in different ways. I don't want to have to commit to this style for as long as my wig lasts...

OP, is this the type of sheitel you mean? It says it's monodirectional:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Virgin.....46614

(I'm not suggesting you buy it, I'm just trying to picture what you mean. I think most of us aren't familiar with the type of sheitel you describe).

Curious: what do you like about this type of sheitel? Is it a certain style/look you can achieve with it? Is it easier to take care of/keeps the set longer? Does it stay neater throughout the day?

Maybe you can share a pic with us of what you mean, just so we understand.

Ok -now I get what you mean :-) that is what we wore in high school! I really think sheitel machers don't offer that type of sheitel because people - Jews and non Jews alike - generally don't wear that style nowadays. It's very 80s. I mean if you like it, go for it! But the reason sheitel machers don't offer it is not because of some pricing conspiracy. They aren't offering it because that look has been out of style for 20 years now.

I hope you find what you seek. Hatzlacha!

This sheitel didn't come that way, I styled it that way (thanks for the compliments, by the way). This, as well as the high front bump are only examples of what you can do with an open-weft non-skin top. The only thing versatile about a skin top is where you put the part (& you can't even have no part if you want).

I guess since these sheitels are "styled" & don't the have plain, very flat tops, they are considered "Bubby sheitels."

Can someone direct me to the "IMAGRANDMOTHER" site, since I'm obviously too old for this one.

These links are actually very similar to how my wigs are styled. Are you saying that they do have skin tops or don't?

My Sheitel is very similar to the middle picture- its a skintop and I know a lot of people with that kind of style in their skintop Sheitels

They are the exact opposite of the what the "natural" skin top is designed to be (especially the middle one) -- that's what people are paying the high price for -- so they should NOT look like these (full body on top). They do not show off their parts (or have none) -- which is the most expensive component of the skin tops -- you're paying to see a deeply-defined (natural-looking) part.

If this is what you want, you should not be paying the high price of a skin top.

The wigs you linked and described look wiggy to me.

People want natural looking.

Companies are creating what they expect to sell.

Styles that were in in the 80s or whenever, are old looking to people in their 20s-30s. No offense to anyone, but nobody wears their hair like that these days.
