There's a new book out called honorable mentschen that outlines social skills very nicely. I'm not finding it very interesting to read aloud or teach from but if you have a kid who can read it him/herself I think they could learn a lot. My kids are pre-readers so I ended up using it more to clarify for myself ideas to teach them, rather than reading it to them directly.

My kids are readers b"h. But from What you are saying that if I read it myself I can give it over ??
Or is it better and comes thru clearer if they are readable age ?

Any more suggestions always read to hear...

In case you are wondering- anonymous cuz some pple know me and I'd rather keep it to myself

I just felt like it was a little dry to read aloud, a little like a how-to manual. It has little comics that are more fun to read independently than to go and explain to someone younger.

The American Girl books are sweet, and one of the girls in the series is Jewish (Rebecca, I believe).

Are you looking for something that explains/illustrates what to do in certain situations (like social stories for special needs kids), or something more like a fun book series that teaches kids how to be a good friend, etc., through what happens to the characters?

If it's the second you can go with classics like Charlotte's Web, Anne of Green Gables, or the Little House on the Prairie books, though you may want to pre-read depending on what your hashkafik outlook is on secular kids books. If you want more Jewish themed ones, I loved the Devora Doresh mysteries as a kid, and I think there are books of stories for kids at most Jewish bookstores.
