Hello ladies,
I am having a lot of company for shabbos lunch and have heard some people who put an entire roast in their chulent. Can you give me very specific directions if you do that and which roast to buy?
TIA!!

We have done a similar thing, but it was when we didn't have time to defrost and cut the meat so it was lest whole. I cut it when I was serving the cholent, mixed in as usual. I guess it could be served on a separate platter.
It will be very soft and hot, so be careful removing it from the pot. Use a meat fork and a long very sharp knife to cut it. Since it is hot, you can't cut it in thin slices.

I think it's a waste of a good roast ... why not just buy stew meat
yes the meat will be tasty but also fall totally apart
I've made brisket and served it sliced albeit cold ... your cholent could be the side

Trying to make prep easier as I'm having 10 guests for dinner and then 20 for lunch this shabbos. I was hoping someone would say buy this cut of meat, just put it in and it will be tender and delicious. People will rave about your chulent. You will be a chulent superstar. You will win any chulent cook off you enter with this recipe.
I'll ask the butcher when I go shopping tomorrow.
