would you collect torn money you find in the street ? yeah I got about 80% of a $20 bill that I found strewn into pieces ... taped it up
now I don't know what it's value is - or what to do with it
wondering if it's counterfeit

If you've got 80% of it you can probably exchange it at the bank for a new bill.
But borrow a counterfeit detector pen from someone first, to test it's authenticity, before you present it to the establishment.

In addition to ra mom, every bill has an id number. I believe it's toward the top left and again to the bottom right. You need both of those numbers to exchange it at the bank for a whole one. Good luck!
