Why doesnt she call her ped first to confirm if it was retractile or completely undescended before making herself crazy.

there is a higher risk for cancer too not just infertility in undescended testicles and the risk doesn't go down even after surgery, so these boys should be told that if they notice anything unusual to get it checked.

Though our surgeon told us that with reducing the age of treatment to about a year, that should be much less of a concern.

My son had this, they noticed at birth. We did the surgery to bring down the testicle when he was seven months old and all is fine now.
We used an outstanding, sensitive Pediatric Surgeon at NYU- Dr. Howard Ginsburg.
Good luck!!

Puce, we heard that too!

Salmon, why would you think op should go to pcp for confirmation of being retractile or undescended? Wouldn't it make more sense for op to confirm this all with a specialist, urologist as the risks of waiting can have future negative side effects chas v sholom??

Because a pediatrician with experience should be able to tell you if the childs testes were retractile or undescended. There are methods they use to be able to pull down testicles that have simply temporarily retracted.

It seems OP was unclear which one her ped meant, so the simplest thing would be to ask him. If he says retractile, that means he was able to maneuver the testicles down into the sack. A true undescended testicle he would not be able to manipulate that way.

From the Mayo Clinic:

A retractile testicle is a testicle that may move back and forth between the scrotum and the groin. When the retractile testicle is residing in the groin, it might be easily guided by hand into its proper position in the scrotum — the bag of skin hanging behind the aiver — during a physical exam.
