no idea what hungarians eat (besides goulash) but here are some ideas.
start each meal with veg or veg and lentil soup. you can make one or two big pots of different types and alternate each evening. This will fill you up if you are used to eating meat every day.
salmon with any sides you like.
breaded fried fish (cod or other white fish) and chips
tuna patties
lentil shepherds pie
lentil curry and rice
tofu stir fry
falafel balls with all the sides
lasagna
pasta and cheese
pasta and marinara sauce
gnocchi
pizza

I made this, and it was a big hit. I invented it with what was in the fridge. Sorry, I don't use measurements, I just eyeball it until it looks right.
Brown rice pasta (you can use regular if you want) boiled and drained.
Saute sliced zucchini, onions, and mushrooms in lots of butter (or olive oil).
Add the drained pasta back into the pot, and stir to mix.
Pour in some heavy cream, just enough to coat everything, but not too liquidy.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Top with fresh grated Parmesan cheese.
It should come out tasting kind of like a lighter version of alfredo sauce.

Dal Masala:
Yellow lentils, rinsed and cooked until mushy (like split pea soup).
Sauteed onions, zucchini, mushrooms, and chopped fresh tomatoes.
(don't overcook the veggies, especially the tomatoes. You want them tender-firm.)
One tablespoon of Garam Masala spice.
Salt to taste.
Easy and delicious. My picky DD is on her second bowl!

I don't have curry paste so I use extra curry powder. Really great simple method - the lentils cook while you chop and fry the onions. I serve with rice. You can make this without curry powder I guess if you think kids won't like it too spicy.

I just made this fish tonight and it was delicious. I made regular battered fried fish for my kids and this healthier version for myself. I didn't make the potato salad, just the fish. I made chips for the kids and I had salad and roast eggplant and zoodles with mine.

I've made this before, and it came out wonderful!
Slightly OT, I can't find Russet potatoes anywhere in Israel. You can get the white and the red wax potatoes, but there are no varieties of baking potatoes. Any idea why?
