Cleveland is a huge diverse community. It has a very frum crowd and also some more modern areas. There are tons of kollels, but it is very hard to get into if you are new to the community.

Cleveland is a very nice place. The paying kollels are very hard to get into. As far as Yeshivishness its not the east coast. It would be a big culture shock to move from say Bensenhurst to Cleveland. The main difference as far as Yeshivishness oot vs ny/nj is that oot everyone is in the same school. You have the super yeshivish families where the father wouldnt be seen outside without a hat and jacket and the families where the father doesnt even own a hat all in the same schools so by definition the kids are coming out more open minded and exposed which in my opinion is only a good thing Smile

with this sentence you are insinuating that modern is less frum ...

to answer the OP

yes cleveland is diverse ... there are a million threads about cleveland

you have telshe yeshiva area ... about 30 minutes due west [somewhat like a bungalow colony]

then you have the [cleveland] heights, the other [university] heights & beachwood ... all within a 3 mile radius

there are yeshivish people in all areas - as well as lubavitch - as well as modern - as well as a few sephardim

if yeshivish is what you are looking for - it's right there ...

hebrew academy ~ is a mix of families - taught yeshivish style

these 2 schools branched off of hac some years back

mosdos ~ more right winged only yeshivish might be under a different name - if it still exists [yeah isssues]

mizrachi ~ is co-ed

the zman starts in three weeks. The kollels that pay that are hard to get into generally look into new guys pesach-june. I doubt any of the kollels still have openings for the coming year.
