After you bought a house, paid for moving and repairs closing costs etc. how much money did you leave in your savings account?

WE bought our house about 6 months ago. It pretty much cleaned us out. We had a little money left over that went to putting in a new bathroom and buying furniture.
If anything comes up that needs to be fixed etc it's a real stretch to cover it.

A few grand.
And after an employment reduction soon after buying, we ended up missing payments within a year and a half and foreclosing within 3 years.
Make sure you have excellent padding in your savings before buying.
