so I often want to treat my kiddies to something ... my great idea is to send them monies [whatever amount you can/want to budget]
now when you want to treat them to danishes for shabbos morning, or a bottle of wine for shabbos, or a steak for their birthday ... call them - tell them what to buy & now your kiddies have a sweet treat from mom[my] ~ voila
