Thanks lovely ladies!
My husband found out that he is prediabetic, so I can't make my regular sweet meatballs.
My kids won't like pieces of vegetables. Tomato sauce, a bit of sugar is fine.
Please no ingredients that are difficult to find.
Do you have the winning delicious recipe?
Thanks so much!

I never do sweet meatballs. I use chopmeat. a big onion. sprinkle liberally onion pwder, garlic pwder and pepper. If I feel like it, I add a bit of wheat germ. If I don't have it, I don't. And I use Hunts tomato sauce only. And I'm liberal with the tomato sauce.

Meatballs:
1 lb. ground beef
3 Tbsp. raisins*
1 egg
1/2 onion, minced
2 Tbsp. seasoned bread crumbs
1 tsp. dried thyme
1 tsp. dried parsley
1 Tbsp. water
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
Sauce:
1/2 onion, minced
28-oz can chopped tomatoes
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 1/2 c. frozen petite peas
Form meatball mixture into approximately 24 meatballs.
Brown meatballs on all sides (in batches, if necessary) in 1 Tbsp. olive oil together together with 1/2 onion from sauce.
When all meatballs are done, put them all back into pan and pour tomatoes and oregano on top.
Gently stir, then cover, cooking 20 minutes (or until meatballs are cooked through).
Add peas, turn off heat and cover, so that peas cook but stay bright green and not mushy.
Serve over rice, pasta or mashed potatoes.

* I know you said you don't want pieces of vegetables, and if your DH is prediabetic maybe raisins are a bit too sugary, but I personally really love this addition. I don't even like oatmeal raisin cookies or raisin challah, but for some reason the raisins-in-meatballs really work. It adds a bit of moist sweetness that's really distinctive and delicious and melds well into the meatballs. But you can probably skip without a problem.
