This is purely out of my own curiosity, but in light of all the tuition complaints and my own struggle with tuition, I'm curious about a few things and would appreciate if you answer the following questions. The information is for no purpose other than for my own general understanding of the tuition situation/crisis/whatever across different communities in every sense of the word.

1. How much is full tuition per child? Please specify grades and gender.
2. How much do you actually pay all inclusive?
3. Where do you live?
4. What type of school do you send to?

I know this is insanely personal but I would appreciate if you satisfy my curiosity. I'll go first...

6th grade boy- $12,200
4th grade girl- $10,000
1st grade girl- $10,200

2. How much do you actually pay all inclusive?

7th grade girl- $9400
6th grade boy- $9000

4. What type of school do you send to?

Modern orthodox day schools. The 4th grade girl wasn't doing well at her school and I couldn't afford another high(ish) tuition so we moved her to a kiruv school who is giving us a 50% discount.

I don't mean to get this thread off track but it's not the credit of the "amazing tuition committee" that families that need bigger breaks get the help they need. It's a matter of the financial numbers working out. A school that has many full paying families and big donors can afford to help families in need bigger breaks. Schools with a higher % of families only paying partial tuition simply may not be able to afford to give a family in need a 75% break. I don't think it has anything to do with how savvy or skillful the committee is.

give or get means you have to either get people to donate that money or you have to donate it yourself.

Every family has a $1500 obligation. You can either raise the money, donate it yourself, volunteer or there is a way to buy gift cards.

So does that mean that amother needs to give or get $3500 total, or give $3,500 plus get the remainder to reach $12,000?

It is on top of tuition. You can pay full and still have to do it.

it's usually a per family shtick. like it's x amount per kid and then it's a give or get per family- people like me who only have one kid in school right now end up paying more for that kid's tuition. Thankfully my dc's current school doesn't have the per family fees, yet, it's a new school so we'll see.
