This thread makes me so nervous as my kids have not yet entered into this yeshiva/tuition world! Don't think I'm going to be able to sleep tonight. How do you all afford this? Can you please include your total family income in these posts?

There's no mystery here. Families that can afford high tuition have high incomes.

Tuition for 3 elementary girls @ 4,000 each=$12,000 but we pay $10,000 after discount. This does not include registration and fees, so after that I'd say it's closer to $11,000 per year for all three girls.

Tuition for elementary boy is $5,000 and although we get a discount, after all the fees and bussing costs we end up paying that amount anyway.

Lakewood.

We afford because one paycheck per month goes straight to tuition. Our total income is like $120,000. But we are having a hard time staying afloat. We live simply.

1. DD 12 ~15k
DS 10~14k
DS 8 ~14k
DS 4 5.5k

2. B'H, DD now attends the school in which DH teaches, so we pay only 2k for her (all FT teachers get significantly reduced rates... can't wait till my boys reach that stage!!)
~18K for DSs 10 and 8 combined
5.5K for DS 4
so total is approximately 26K/year not including registration, fees, banquet, script requirement, etc

3. OOT, community school

Obviously, since we aren't paying full tuition, we are not affording it. I try not to feel guilty by reminding myself that the reduced rate we pay (~9k per child, instead of asked 14K) would be considered full tuition in many in-town schools.
Dh and I both work full time, and yet we will always be poor, because no matter how much our income may increase, our tuition requirement will increase commensurately. The one thing we have going for us is that DH is a teacher (in high school), so as our kids get older and enter his school, our tuition requirement will actually go down as we'll automatically get reduced rates. This somewhat makes up for the poor pay teachers get (only as long as our kids are in his school). I make 100K, and our combined income is probably in the top 5% of US households (median US household income is ~52K) and yet we are struggling and probably will be for the rest of our lives. We do not own a home or spend much on extras.

WOW!!! shock shock
I just want to thank you for starting this thread. This made me realize that there's no way (unless the government does something) that my family should stay in the US and keep on paying these high tuitions! Unless we decide to take them to public schools (which I'm not crazy about the idea, especially when they're so young). Sorry, now I rather make an aliyah then stay and live poor over. I already prefer to live poor but happy in Israel.

We just started sending them to a yeshiva (modern orthodox) this year.

Pre-K (UPK) is just a little over $1000
Kindergarten costs $11,000
Both boys
We're paying full amount of $12,000 this year.

I already got a letter for the first day they're already asking for extra money for things (like little things for books/shirts...) and that just drove me crazy already because we're paying enough money!!! It's ridiculous. Sorry for the anger post....

I paid about $2,700 for a first grade/kita beis boy in a chassidish cheder. Busing is another $700 for the year. And they expect us to give to the dinner as well.

I didn't ask for a break so I'm assuming it's full price. Another child in preschool is on daycare so for him I just pay for transportation
