We would like to name after a grandmother, but using as a second name. The first name we'd like to capture her essence in a name. She is very much described as having been kind and full of chesed.
Any ideas for names to do with that? Or someone also known for being full of chesed? Bonus if there is a connection with Elul!
TIA!

Naama- pleasant, wife of Shlomo Hamelech.
Toba is Yiddish for yona. Different than Tovah.

I would go for Rivka, whose essence was kindness, above and beyond.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Some are names we have bandied about, others we don't like.

Rivka has a good meaning to it, but for me a little too common, and we actually can't use the name anyway- have lots of family with it.

I like the name of Na'ama, but don't really see the relevance to kindness specifically, as with Adina and some others mentioned.

I do appreciate the suggestions and wouldn't mind some more!

Thanks!

Is Chasida really a name in some circles? It's one of the non-kosher birds in Sefer Vayikra.

I like Naama or Marion's other suggestions.

I do like the name naama and naava, but don't they mean more pleasant? To me that doesn't necessarily connote kind and chesed...

I know someone named Chasida but never heard of it otherwise! (and her family is a little exotic so I think that was the point!)

Cool! I'll admit I'm a little extra-cautious with double-meaning names because of stories I've heard here from kids with American parents about getting made fun of because of names that are bad in Hebrew.

Chasia? I think it means more "mercy of G-d" but that is related to kindness and it starts with two of the three shorashim of chesed.
