If I have a chocolate cake and would like to lay white fondant on top what would be the method? Directly on? Cream top of cake ? Tia

Fondant can be tricky, so if it's your first time working with it I'd say to watch a couple of youtube videos just to see what you're dealing with. Usually, you first do a layer of icing that you make as smooth as possible (any lumps or dips will show through the fondant) and then you roll out the fondant, lay it on the cake, and smooth it out.

Use the wilton brand fondant. It is very easy to work with.

Thanks I did make a cake and cover with fondant years ago but don't remember clearly what I did ... any specific icing recipe works best?

my husband the cake maven says use white icing in between. I agree that watching videos is smart
