How to make my 5 month old start sleeping on her stomach??

My 5 month old baby slept in a car seat until now. I would try to make her sleep in the crib but whichever position we tried she would awake every few minutes so we just left her in her favorite position which was the carseat. Problem is that now she's getting a flat head from sleeping on her back. And as soon as I try putting on stomach, she props herself up on her hands even if it's in middle of her sleep! And then she cries and cries and doesn't realize there's a way to put the head down and sleep. Any tips and advice please?!

Why did you let her sleep in a car seat all this time? Did she have reflux?

Do they not still recommend back sleeping to prevent SIDS? And who n on earth told you to have the baby sleep in a car seat? Obviously what you were near to hear but sounds strange to me

The only way she felt secure and slept was in the car seat

Nurse her on her stomach a few times so she is able to get comfortable with that position. It only took a few times for my DS to get used to the idea. Before that he was also screaming every time.

Btw it's dangerous to let a baby sleep through the night in a car seat.

Swaddle her and put her to sleep on her back. If she has enough time on her stomach during the day her head should be fine.

Please dont put her to sleep on her stomach, even if shes getting flat headed. Google it-it increases the risk of SIDS chas v'shalom.
My son also started getting flat headed, the doctor told me to just make sure he has plenty of tummy time during the day, and he was fine

If she hasn't slept on her stomach until now I wouldn't switch at this point. Her muscles aren't used to it and it can be dangerous.
Once she starts rolling over on her own regularly then I would start her on her stomach (she may be doing that already.)

I transitioned by maughter from a small angled bassinet to a pack 'n play at about 4/5 months. It was a hard transition and takes patientce to move from a cuddly sleeping position to flat on the back in an open environment.

Hopefully she'll start moving a lot more soon and get around her crib and different positions in her sleep. My daughter is now 6 months and switches positions many times during the night.

I like to put my baby in the corner so she feels more 'cuddled'.

Don't put her on her tummy if she doesn't go there on her own, it isn't recommended, Make an appointment and ask your doc about your baby's head if you are worried- we did and our baby's head was actually FINE. And if it is getting flat your doc can advise you on what to do.

does she sleep well on her back in the crib? if so don't worry about the flat head. that happens to all babies b/c of the back sleeping. once they turn over on their own the head evens out as the bones grow. leave her on her back
