Please tell me about your positive, healthy mother-son relationships?

I think rather than comparing yourself to others you may want to understand why you are feeling insecure. Some boys are closer to their fathers and some aren't. We and our children are all unique individuals. Keeping score doesn't benefit anyone.

I don't find this to be true at all. I am super close with my boys. My brothers call my mom multiple times a day, and my husband barely has a relationship with his father.
Just be a normal, functional mom and your boys will be close with you.

It's fine if your boys are closer with their father. That doesn't take away from your relationship with them. My son is closer with his father. They enjoy the same activities (stuff I can't even relate to) and I'm happy I married someone who is a great dad and who can spend quality time with and relate to my son. It gives me joy to see that they get along and that dh can be a positive presence in my son's life.
