I have no idea what to get.
Features I want
basic functions like an alarm clock...
a keyboard for texting
would also like something that I can use to somehow organize my day - make a schedule, to do list, reminders... (something a little more then the real basic calendar that any phone comes with)
I don't need/want to pay for anything much fancier then that.
What type of phone should I get?
I see names like Samsung, LG, Alcatel, ZTE, HTC, IPhone and ect... on the website. I don't know the difference between them. What's good for the functions I want? (I know that in each category there's a few different phones ex a few Samsung phones, but just want a basic idea were to start looking)

Are you looking for a smartphone or not? Feathre phones (I.e. more than the basic call and text) have less being sold, but are chepaer. You definitely do not need an iphone, it is not worth the money if you don't need it. Samsung has some lower end phones , which are not so expensive. 2 companies I definitely would not go with are LG and BLU as they are not great quality.
Also I heard that B & H are really helpful and knowledgable in their phones. It may pay to give them a call to advise you, but they are not open until after yom tov.
