Brooklyn will definitely be cheaper than Manhattan. Even if they accept trade-ins, you'll only get a small fraction of an item's actual value, and it's unlikely to be worth it unless you're really desperate for the money.

I've also had very good luck with Elite Sterling, on 13th and 48th in Boro Park. Another bonus is that within a block or two, you also have Grand Sterling, and another silver store whose name escapes me. So you can shop 3 stores with less than 5 minutes of walking.

For leichters, we found great prices by a place in Lakewood.
