Do you literally throw things out the day they expire? Or if it says "best by..." do you use it for a couple of weeks after?
I'm thinking about raw eggs, for example, also salad dressings, mayonnaise...
What about meds? I found some arnica montana pellets that expired a few months ago? Should I use or discard? Any helpful tips would be appreciated.

I think with rare exceptions most dates are really "best by" or "sold by" not "expiration" unless it says specifically. I often use some common sense--smell, appearance, risk factor. Since even bottled water needs a date on it--and we know that water doesn't spoil--bad tasting maybe--so I take them as suggestions. If it's something like milk--there are other ways of figuring out the status of the milk.
