in the summer many people light candles an hour or two ahead of nightfall... Can I do that on a day like today when Shabbos starts by 4:30 anyway? It may sound strange but it's a nice day and I'd like to go out with my kids while it's still light, and stay out until after candle-lighting time. I can be ready in time for that, but I can't push the whole outing earlier because I need to finish things at home that I can't leave in middle. Can I light at 3:30?!

I know somebody who used to do it. You can start as early as plag each week, just like in the summer.
