Most jobs for "intellectuals" require professional training. Do you have any?

By 'Frum Mommy' compatible, do you mean you'd like to work from home or keep kid- friendly hours? What about researching and writing articles? Do you have any degree or training?

I mean kid-friendly hours, flexibility. Research/writing sounds up my alley but I've always thought of it as a full-time plus commitment. Am I wrong?

I know lab techs and phlebotomists who work family friendly hours.

I think you can pitch articles to the Frum magazines- I know it worked that way for short stories in the Binah. You can start off like that and once you get into it and publish more pieces, you can try other publications.

Frum magazines are wonderful, but don't fit my definition of intellectual

OP, if you want to be amother, you may wish to edit your posts.

Do you have any college education, career training or work experience? What are your interests? Are you willing to go (back) to school to learn a new career, or do you need to start working immediately?

As others have said, much depends on your education. If you have advanced degrees, you should not have trouble finding flexible research, editing and writing jobs. They don't necessarily pay well, but they do exist.

Guess I leaked my identity!
I would consider doing online courses to further my education, but first I need to be sure about what to pursue.

I don't think of lab tech as an intellectual job. Which is not to say that an intellectual person can't do it, but I don't suppose it would be the most intellectually stimulating part of their life by far.

You can definitely do research-oriented writing on a part-time basis. Need not involve frum magazines. Look around for other freelance opportunities and consider subscribing to some kind of writer's association or publication to get a feel for the market. Writing is pretty much the only thing I can think of that fits both flexible and intellectual.
