My friend is considering moving to Lakewood/Jackson/Toms River. Her kids are currently in Lev BY and her son is in Kaminetz in Flatbush. Where do you think her kids would fit best?

Not all of us here from Lakewood are from Brooklyn.....

There's a Kaminetz Yeshiva in Lakewood too, BTW.

The Kaminetz in Lakewood and the Kaminetz in Flatbush couldn't be more different. I don't know Lakewood schools well, but the Brooklyn schools mentioned by OP are fairly to the left even by Brooklyn standards, definitely with families that have TV, movies, etc. So hopefully that will help the Lakewood crowd translate that to their local options.

I'm not familiar with Lev Bais Yaakov but Kamenetz in Flatbush has nothing to do with Kaminetz in Lakewood. It is considered to the left even by Flatbush standards so the only possible similar school in Lakewood would be YTT. And even they would be to the right of Kamenetz/Toras Emes in Flatbush.

She should NOT move without her children accepted in schools.

OK, thanks for the enlightening posts.

Another question - how old are these kids? Newer schools in Lakewood could be an option for younger kids, but for a full elementary school you will need one that's been around longer. Perhaps Tehilas Chaya Sarah or Aterest Tziporah for the girls. YTT could be an option for the boys.

I was thinking of telling her YTT and Tehilas Chaya Sara. She has bigger kids so new schools wouldn't work.

Those are excellent choices and very well run schools. Warm, caring staff.

Bnos Bracha might also be a possibility. Very warm, well-run, positive environment.
