I love roe!! OP you probably have carp roe.

I cook it the same way I'd cook fish - either submerged in water or poached, with salt, spices, sugar, a carrot and whatever else is in your usual cooked fish recipe.

You remove the membrane after cooking otherwise it will fall apart. You can remove the thick membrane before cooking and the thin one after cooking but you'll lose a bunch of roe that way.

No one eats raw unprocessed roe as far as I know. The one sprinkled on sushi is pickled as is the one from a jar that a poster recommends.

I've tried pickling roe but haven't been successful so far.

Ooh I'm so craving roe now. That sweet/salty pop between the teeth...so yum.

Ah yes, it may be carp cuz it's quite large.

I usually bake my fish. Can this be baked the way I bake salmon fillet?

And when I do cook my fish on occasion, I cook with a small amount of water, not submerged.

I didn't realize OP was asking about the large raw bladder filled with fish roe. LOL. I assume it was the jar of fish roe which consist of little salty eggs. Or poor man's caviar.

And no I wouldn't eat it raw nor would they be used for taramasalata.

When I was little my dad use to prepare it.
It's a Turkish and Greek delicacy.
It's called abudaraho
He use to salt it and hang it to dry in the basement.
Boy did it stink.
Then after a few weeks he would dip it in some type of wax.
It was delicious
I recently saw it in the kosher supermarket
It sold for $150 per pound
My dad use to buy the roe super cheap
This brought back good memories

I make roe latkes. Take out membranes, add an egg or two, flour, salt, pepper and fry as you would fry latkes till golden brown.
Pesach edition of Lubavitch cook book fast a recipe for a zucchini roe kugel. It's not bad, but was a little too dry for my taste.
