I accidentally left eurolux urn plugged in w/o water for about one hour. I opened it up and it was hot. Is it still safe to use?

Let it cool down first, then fill it and switch it on. One of two things will happen:

1. If you burned out the heating element, the urn will not work. It's quite safe, the way a car whose engine died is safe. It's not going to crash into anything. But you will need a new urn.
2. If you didn't burn out the heating element, you have probably shortened its lifespan considerably but it should still work.

What makes letting an urn go dry dangerous is that without water to absorb the heat, the element can overheat and start a fire. B:H by discovering your error in time, you averted a possible fire.

Inspect the power cord before you try using it again. If the insulation looks the least bit hinky (cracked, discolored not from dirt,burnt-looking, brittle, or sticky) near the part that connects to the appliance, it has been damaged and is unsafe. You may be able to replace just the power cord if it's detachable.
