I know this is a bit of a nasty question, but I'm curious-- how much money do you make, and doing what? Be specific!
I'll start: I teach English (~5 45 minute periods a day, totaling 22.5 periods per week) in a modern Orthodox middle school in NJ. I make, including one extra "duty" (writing newsletters for a small portion of the school, 4x/year) 49K.

What purpose does this serve? Or is it just idle curiosity? I'm an adult. I know that different people earn different amounts of $$ already. I also know that I can go to any state web page and find salary comparisons. What am I missing?

That's a very high per period rate. Are you in the tri state area?

I'm an instructor in a program for cancer survivors to aid in their recovery from physical to emotional support. The hours differ depending on a number of variables.
I make about 13,500 a year before taxes.

I'm a PA work 32 hours a week make $120k with some benefits.
I'm not sure why people feel pathetic. Everyone does their own thing. I have decent salary but feel bad that it takes me away from my family (yes, it's only 32 hours but it's not typical work hours and is a huge strain on the kids). I envy those who work less even though they make less. They have a better work life balance than I do and at this point I can't afford to not be working.
