Hypothetically speaking, if your darling husband cooked a meal for you and left some extra ingredients to languish in the downstairs refrigerator until they went moldy, how would you get rid of the stench?
I am particularly concerned about a metal bowl with a plastic lid that had beans soaking in it. The smell is horrible. I washed the bowl multiple times and tried rubbing it with baking soda and lemon juice and let it air out but the smell won't go away. It's a very useful bowl and part of a set and I really don't have to have to throw it out.
Suggestions?
Amother so as not to embarrass my dear husband who meant really well.

Let it soak for a day with a mix of water, lemon juice, dish soap.
When clean and dry, wrap the bowl in newspaper to further absorb the smell and store it that way.
Plastic absorbs so that might be an issue.

Time and sunlight cure all. Leave the open containers out in the sun for as long as you can. Eventually the stench will fade away.

Vinegar takes out odors ..... If it is a microwaveable bowl I would heat it up with vinegar inside until it boils but be careful it gets very hot !!

I make a paste of baking soda and just a little water. Smear it all over the bowl and lid and let sit for at least 24 hours. Rinse first with diluted vinegar then wash normally with soap and water.

If it's metal, rub it with fresh garlic sliced in half (the inside part should be rubbed on) and let it sit like that overnight. Then wash with hot water and soap. I know it sounds crazy, but try it.

vinegar & baking soda ~ do NOT cover bowl
plastic absorbs stench so perhaps you can take a larger pan & soak the lid fully
