Within the last few years one of the magazines I think binah had a recipe for a chop meat and rice recipe with tomato sauce that was delicious (I would venture to say similar to a stuffed pepper filling recipe (without surfing the peppers) can't find it...anywhere and all the ones I see on line don't look right
Thanks

Was it made into meatballs? I've seen this called "porcupine" meatballs.

I don't know the binaural recipe, but I make chop meat and rice for dinner.
Don't have measurements though.

Chop meat
Onion
Garlic
Peppers
Tomato sauce
Green olives with pimentos
Raisins
Salt, pepper, oregano, any spices you like.

Sautée onion, peppers, last garlic.
Add tomato sauce
Add drained olives and raisins
Add spices
Simmer this sauce for about 5 min. For flavors to meld.
Add chop meat. Constantly stir and separate meat.
Continue cooking until meat is done about 20 minutes.
Serve over hot whilte rice

I make a similar recipe.

1 lb. chopped meat
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 small onion, diced
1 egg
3/4 cup Minute Rice (recipe called for regular rice, but I found that doesn't cook completely)

Mix together, roll into meatballs; put in roasting pan.

Then mix the sauce:
1 large can tomato sauce
1/3 - 1/2 cup sugar
a few tbsp. lemon or lime juice

Pour sauce over meatballs; bake at 350 for an hour and a half.

No idea what you read in Binah but here's my version that you could say is similar to what I'd call "unstuffed" peppers:

If you have time and patience, make a mixture with the meat. If you're in a rush, this can work fine by just dumping the meat in plain, but the flavor will be different - still yummy but different.
Meat mixture - all measurements are approximate and pretty much everything is optional depending what time/resources you have:
1 lb ground beef or mixed ground beef+chicken
Generous squirt of ketchup
Generous shake of onion powder and garlic powder
Sprinkle salt, smaller sprinkle pepper (I know, my "recipes" are impossible...)
one egg
Moistened breadcrumbs

Put up a pot of rice to cook while you prepare the meat.

Chop onions and garlic finely.
If desired, also chop peppers and/or celery finely.
Sautee the onions, garlic, and vegetables in a little oil on a low flame.
Raise the flame.
Add meat mixture or plain ground meat. Stir a lot to break up the meat and brown it all over.
When all the meat is browned, lower the flame and add a can (8oz) or two of tomato sauce, depending how saucy or how tomatoey you want it. Cover and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.

Serve with the rice either in a bowl or in tacos or pitas or however you like it.

You could probably also combine it with the rice earlier in the process but then the rice will get all mushy. That works pretty well in stuffed peppers, if that's really the feeling you're going for, but I like it better not mushy.
