Self-explanatory.

I recently saw a wedding registry in which the couple registered for meat, milk and parve dishes. I've never heard of anyone having parve dishes (as opposed to a parve pot or appliance so an ingredient could be used for milk or meat). So I was curious.

Curious about the "other" Can anyone elaborate?

Many people have designated "fish pots" but other than that I don't know anyone with parve dishes. I tried when I first set up my home, but they all inevitably became meat or dairy.

I don't and am not vegan, but I am a vegetarian. Everything I own is dairy. Having pareve versions of anything wouldn't give me any advantages. I suppose I could see it if you regularly needed a snack between meals, especially if you follow a 6hr waiting period. But really, I'm just envious of anyone with a large enough kitchen for 3 sets of dishes Wink

I don't have pareve eating dishes.

But I have 3 pareve cabinets (in a small kitchen) filled with pareve items:
- Pots: soup pots, frying pan, small sauce pan
- Baking pans: baking sheets, muffin tins, bundt pan, 9x13, loaf pan, tons of pans...
- Baking utensils: wooden spoons, bowl scrapers, pastry dough cutter and lots more
- Cooking Utensils: metal mixing spoons, ladles, spatula, beater, cutting board and lots more
- appliances: food processor, hand mixer, immersion blender

I keep all items purely pareve. I have a yellow pareve sponge, green pareve dish towel, use only in a pareve oven, etc.

I can see having 1 - 2 plates for cutting onions or garlic, but having a full serving set I don't understand. especially if vegan (because then no need for milk or meat dishes)

It could be that this would allow them to cook something pareve and keep the leftovers for a future meal. Like, putting a salad in a pareve bowl with pareve serving pieces. I don't know how practical it actually is.

I do have lots of pareve keilim though.

Maybe then third set is pesach, not pareve?

I voted "yes" before reading op. I have like sky, though, not pareve tableware.

I also have pareve pots and utensils so that I can make soup, for example, and freeze in small containers and serve at any meal.
But even if we are only eating pareve (which rarely happens), I designate the meal as meat or dairy and use appropriate dishes.

The 3rd set they registered for may be for Pesach?

No, definitely not Pesach. I asked.

I am a vegetarian, not vegan. I do not have parve eating dishes, but the majority of my pots, pans, bakeware, serving dishes and utensils are parve. I have only two dairy pots, and two fleishig pots. Everything that does not contain actual meat or dairy, I cook parve.

All my appliances (Kitchenaid, food processor, immersion blender) are parve, with the exception of one dairy hand mixer.

For pessach, everything I own is dairy with the exception of one parve pot (for when I make food to bring to a fleishig meal).

Were I vegan, I could see the reason to eat primarily off parve dishes, as well.

How do you know the third set was for pareve?
Maybe they wanted dairy, meat for weekday and meat for shabbos? Or a set for pesach?

Pareve cookware and bakeware here, as well as some glass serving dishes. I could maybe see a set of pareve plates if they have family who would eat pareve by them but not meat or hot on meat dishes- otherwise I agree it seems odd, but hey, whatever floats their boat.

Baking is parve by me. Otherwise it's either dairy or meat.

I have a parve counter, a pareve sink, and oven. I have parve utensils, pots, pans, storage containers, and baking stuff. I can't see any purpose to parve dishes.

pareve dishes seem moot ... baking utensils, storage, pans make sense especially if you want to serve things on both sides of the meaty milky food

and if you're vegan I assure you would only need the one set ... nothing dead or animal related coming into your kitchen soon not even pareve honey [unless you sneak in a yogurt & eat it with a plastic spoon in a corner Wink ]

I also have pareve pots, appliances, knives, sink, oven & utensils but can't imagine when I would use pareve dishes.

I don't keep pareve utensils in my kitchen. I believe the only way they'd stay pareve would be if I had an island (my dream). My pareve mixer, knife, cutting board, etc. are put away in my pantry cabinet to keep them away from other utensils.

You're in good company. I remember a Mishpacha humor column, I think by Sara Eisemann, about how pareve doesn't stand a chance in her kitchen either. But I'm of the school that does keep a lot of pareve stuff so breads, cakes, roasted potatoes, etc. can stay neutral.
