My friend moved from Israel to NYC (Brooklyn) and is sorely missing good dairy restaurants.
Can anyone recommend really good dairy restaurants in NYC preferably in Brooklyn, but anywhere is fine.

In particular my friend is looking for a place that serves really good salads, but anything dairy goes.

Urbana in boro park. They have amazing food.

But honestly. Nothing like the Israeli dairy restaurants here. There is one salad in particular that I miss from there so much. Nobody here makes it. As far as I know.

In Brooklyn we like Orchidea; in Manhattan, Va Bene is great as well.

As a BT who used to eat non kosher ( embarrassed ), I'd say Basil in crown heights is the best by far. I've heard there are two new good ones in The 5 towns (upper crust and cork and slice?) but I haven't tried them.

Taam mevorach on Ave u and e 8!! The place itself is simple, but the food is amazing, especially the salads and the salmon plates. I highly recommend the volcano salad!

With Noi Due just be careful that they don't take reservations (unless that's changed recently), so if you go, try to go early or late, or be prepared for a potentially long wait to get a table.

I'm not fussy. I love it all but my very fussy sons adore the ravioli !
I love salmon there as well.

I've visited both basil & upper crust.
Both have great food.
For me though ambiance is a big part of eating out.
Some people love the hip ambiance at Basil others like the family atmosphere of upper crust.
I like the calm professional ambiance of orchidea. As I side note when I visited with someone within a year of aveiles & asked if the music can be switched off the staff happily complied.
Staff also go to great length if you tell them you're there for a special occasion like bday or anniversary.

Va Bene. And it's got the atmosphere too. The pasta and fish are outstanding and the desserts are incredible.

Expensive one: Orchidea
Regular ones: Milk n honey, Mendelsohn, mendels, benjys.
Those are my favorites.
There's a new one that opened this week I don't know the name.
