My 15 yr old daughter has terrible life altering sensory issues. She is a very picky eater and only eats a few foods. If the foods are slightly darker, lighter, look a little different, she won't eat it. Her clothing needs to look and feel a certain way or she won't wear it. We've gone to OT therapy without success. Any ideas?

Are you sure these are sensory issues, and not something like OCD?

Maybe try a behavioral approach. Can you talk to a BCBA?

I totally feel for you..My 14 year old ds only eats about 4/5 food. He definitely has sensory issues. He even doesn't let me put other foods in front of him. This has affected his social life tremendously. I've been reading up recently on selective eating disorders but haven't found any solutions.

Sounds more like OCD.
A sensory child doesn't usually care about the color of the food & how clothes look.

Could be anxiety and/or OCD, on top of sensory issues. Please take her to a psychologist.
