Until what hour do you hold that? The later Tzeit Hakochavim used for Shabbos, or the earlier one used for the minor fasts? I know, I could ask a rav, but I'm just waiting the extra 20 minutes this time around. As an addendum: BH Rosh Chodesh Nissan is only one day long.

I've heard that some people will put in a load but have their son or husband turn on the machine.

If I need clean towels and underwear, I'll ask dh to do the load since it's clear sorting and there's little to mess up (no pockets to check for pens and tissues, and I don't sort it by color). I feel weird sorting the laundry even if it might be technically okay. (Really, it's fabric I bought today I want to prewash and dh isn't home yet!)
I'm wondering about a halachic source for what hours the start and end of RC are.
