All the Arons, Aarons, and Aharons (and there are quite a few!) in my extended family and circle of friends just go by their names.

So here's the question. We have a family member, deceased, who's name was aharon. We'd like to name after him if it's a boy, but we already have a child we call Avi, and Ari would be to confusing with Avi. So we were wondering about other nicknames. However I don't like any of the other nicknames that were suggested here. So do we name it anyway, and just use the full name?

What's wrong with Ahron? We have an Ahron, and he is the most absolutely delicious little boy, if I may say so Very Happy

As an aside, it also translates well into English, Spanish etc.

I don't think Ari and Avi would be confusing. They sound quite different.

Aharon and Aaron are both lovely names.

I'm not familiar with using Ari as a nickname for Aharon, actually. To me, they are totally different names.

How about a Harry as a nickname, if you want something different?

Harry is my father in law. Too weird to call a grandson the same name.
And it's not that I would be confused between ari and avi, but I don't want other people to be when they get older etc. I see a lot of potential for confusion.

My son is Aaron.

His nickname when he was younger was Aaroni.

When he was a baby we called him "Aaroni Macaroni". Smile

The name can be pronouced as AHArOWn as ArOWn or as ArIn if using the full name...

With my son his name pronounced as yisrOEl I cant stand but as YisrAEl I love.
