Hello again imamothers!

My husband got a job in Har Hovtsim so we are looking to move to somewhere a short (30 min or less) commute by bus from there. Ramot looks great but it's possibly a bit on the expensive end. Is there another comparable community that is a bit cheaper but not too far away? There are an awful lot of buses that stop there but I haven't time to look them all up an see where they come from etc.

Thankyou Very Happy

There are direct buses from Maale Adumim, though they don't go as far as the main MA Anglo base in Mitzpeh Nevo. They're convenient from much of the Klei Shir neighborhood, though, which is reasonable walking distance on Shabbos from Mitzpeh Nevo and has a fair number of DL Anglos and European olim.

The bus is probably a little over half an hour for the early one to Har Chotzvim in the morning, and 40-50 minutes home in rush hour traffic.

There ARE English speakers in other parts of Maale Adumim as well (and OP didn't specify that she needs an Anglo enclave). The Har Chotzvim bus starts in 07, goes through Klei Shir and (unless it's changed) through 03, before exiting MA to Jerusalem. In addition, there is the #40 bus from Givat haTachmoshet LRT station, so ANY MA bus (173, 174, 175, 176, 177, 178) that have a stop there make an easy transfer. I'm not familiar with the schedule of the #40 on the way back. Keep in mind that the 123 (the direct bus from MA to Har Chotzvim) only has two or three runs in the morning and two in the afternoon rush hour, so that may or may not fit his work schedule.

But I'd definitely take a look at MA.

I have a relative that commutes from MA to HH.
I believe he gets off at Bar Ilan/Shmuel Hanavi, not the LRT, and just walks the rest of the way to HH.

Yup, you could do that too. I did when they first rerouted the buses that way. But if you're all the way into Har Chotzvim it's a "fair" (!) walk, so the bus is a good option. And good to know about for days with bad weather.
