Some "hugs" are truly pathetic and immature

I know this has been discussed numerous times, but this bugs me!
What set me off was seeing that in the Baby Girl names thread, the posters who said they liked certain names like Fraidy were actually hugged!
I mean, how immature can you be? If you don't like the name Fraidy, don't do anything-don't like the post, don't hug the post, just ignore it! Why make someone feel bad for liking that name?
In my mind, that hug meant "Oy, nebach, I feel so bad for you that you have such poor taste in names."

Ladies, grow up!!!!! We're not in middle school!!!! Rolling Eyes

Sometimes I honestly can't figure out the reason I got a hug like on the Sierra Julien thread but I can think of two options- I myself have mistakenly clicked on the hug button instead of like multiple times. Or I ticked off a poster on a different thread so she stalks me and hugs me all over the place. Smile

Maybe it was just a hug, like in real life. This whole passive-aggressive hugging thing is a mystery to me. I am surprised anyone even thought if it.

LOL I got a hug! I am reminded of the "dislike" hijinks on another website. "Why did someone dislike my post?" is bound to score another "dislike" (or a few).

If someone in RL hugs you because you say you like the name Fraidy, they have serious issues.

IMO if Yael truly wants to make this a welcoming and pleasant place, the hug feature should go.

Agree the hugs confuse me sometimes.
What I'd like to see is a LOL button.
They're few and far between, but some posts give me a good laugh and when they do I want to share.

This is an old issue and the hug feature was removed from many sections . Although the problems still remains

I'm already past the hugging saga. I posted about it a while ago because I kept getting hugged just for breathing. By now I just take it as a compliment.

FYI, for someone scrolling down threads on a smartphone it's very easy to mistakenly "hug" a post without realizing it.

I'm always on my smartphone and trust me I've never hit the wrong button
do all these accidental huggers have huge thumbs? eyesight problems?

Could it be that someone just sees the heart on their phone, and mistakenly thinks it just means "Love" not "Hug"? Just a thought....
