My kids are both toddlers and they have lots of white tops. It's fine  in general I prefer feeding them meals just in undershirts and pants because it's so much easier to clean skin than work on stained clothes.
If something gets a stain I apply oxi gel stain remover immediately and leave it in for a few hours minimum. I've never found white clothes to be more of an issue than any other color.
