Icecream recipe question

I have an icecream recipe
It's for plain icecream, any flavor.

I want to make vanilla icecream with frozen cherries.
Will the cherries sink?
How do I keep them mixed in?
Should I defrost the cherrie, chop them up?

Also I want to make icecream with chocolate cover almond, similar to to tofutti almond bark.
The almonds are whole and heavy
Will those sink, do I need to chop those up?
How about chocolate chips?

Freeze the ice cream for an hour before mixing in the add ins.
