Does anyone know if mordechai shapiro's song "schar mitzvah" was taken from a secular song or is it an original?

A friend told me that someone told her that it's from a secular song, but no one can name it.
I was just really curious because it's a really good song imo!

There is an app on the page you can use which when hearing any music will say what it's called, from who etc

Seems like FuturePOTUS from the coffee room in yeshiva world news knows the original song, but didn't name it...

http://www.theyeshivaworld.com.....-tune

"In Mordechai Shapiro’s new song Schar Mitzvah, almost everything but the high part is copied from a kol isha non-Jewish song, but I doubt the mods want me naming it."

Why?

It sounds like an original tune to me. Not a copy.

It's a catchy song. Most songs with the chords A minor, F, C and G (in that order or C, G, Am, F) end up sounding similar although it's a great chord combo albeit overused in pop music.

I don't recognize it as anything...not that I'm the be-all-end-all of secular music, but, honestly, the tune didn't even sound like secular music. I kinda thought it sounded like Jewish pop.

But if this is a contemporary secular pop song, please chime in - I'd love to know!

Ok, until someone can actually pin this melody on a different artist, I will believe that this is an original song by mordechai Shapiro.

Yum! I love keith urban. My husband took me to a Keith urban concert this year. And he had VIP passes to meet him. But didn't take me to meet him🙁

you know it's so funny there's a thread on this. I have a hard time enjoying Jewish music but LOVE schar mitzvah mitzvah, as soon as I heard it I loved it! so it's funny that it could be copied.... I wonder.

There are so many new songs that are from non Jewish tunes... sounds like the Jewish composers ran out of ideas!
Has anyone heard Pharrell Williams "happy" song the Jewish version? "Kol sason"

Such a pretty song! I don't know what to tell you in terms of where the tune is from, but if you are curious to see it, there is a really nice video for the song on youtube.
