We are considering building a house on a lot in the area where we live.
Has anyone done this and can give me a rough estimate on cost?

Where do you live? Building prices have to do with location also

So many variables to consider! What size house? Where do you live? Etc etc

We live out if town. I prefer not to say because it is a pretty small frum community.
Excluding cost of land, what approximately should I expect for a 3000 sq foot home. No basement as they tend to flood in this area

We can't advise you as this is location dependent. Get quotes from several contractors and architects. Be prepared to spend a fortune.

Call and find out costs per sq ft.
I know in Lakewood it used to be about 100 per sq ft but now went up to 150 per sq ft. You have to find out the average cost in your area. Then muliply by the size.
So 300,000 - 450,000 based on Lakewood costs.
